An antique shop sign carved with the same kanji letters on both sides meaning “exchange” (ryo-gae-ya) — for a bank. The sign is heavy and carved in the shape of a weight. It has a few surface cracks that are more visible on the photo than on the piece. The sign dates from the late 19th or early 20th century of Japan’s Meiji period.

Measurements: H 23″ W at widest point 17″
