Excellent Burmese wood-carving of kneeling monk, embellished with mica and glass pieces. Traditionally, pieces like this one portrayed Buddha’s favorite disciple Ananda. 19th Century. Difficult to find an antique monk in today’s market.

Condition: Although the skirt has a surface crack, this does not detract from the aesthetics of the piece.

Measurements: 15 1/2″ tall.

Provenance: Acquired in the 1960s.
